About Putnam/Thomander Family Tree
Please sign in to see more.
Hello and welcome to my family tree! I'm Steve Putnam (aka the little leaf at the bottom) and I am 3/4 UK, 1/8 Swedish, and the rest a mixture of robotics and space alien.

Deacon John Putnam is the earliest known ancestor to land in America: records show he co-founded Salem Village in 1634, just 14 years after the Mayflower and 27 years after the Jamestown founding. My Putnam ancestors moved to Vermont in the late 18th century and then to Fargo, ND some 100 years later.

The Becks appear in New Jersey by the mid 17th century, staying put until the Mormon exodus to Utah around 1860. The Stewarts were also early arrivals from England, having landed in the Long Island area in the late 17th century. From there, they quickly relocated to North Carolina in the early 1700s and then to Tennessee in the the late 1700s. They, too, came to Utah around 1860. Also from England, the Cooks landed in Pennsylvania around 1860--probably saw a brewing civil war--and quickly skedaddled to Utah.

As for the Swedish blood, by now so diluted I stand a whopping 5'9" and eat only vegan meatballs, Peter Thomander--then about 21 years old--moved with his family from Lund, Sweden to Utah around 1857. Rumor has it that Peter was the result of a steamy, condom-less love affair between his father Johan Henric and maid Martha, who spent disproportionate amounts of time dusting the bedroom in her french maid outfit.

Please take a look at the links section where you might find some interesting information on first cousins eight times removed Israel Putnam (Revolutionary War general of Bunker Hill fame) and Ann Putnam, Jr. (one of the little girls who accused various people of witchcraft in Salem Village).

I am also looking for more information on we the living. Please send me dates, offspring and spouses of those first and second cousins.
